Faith

The predominating sense for a dog is it’s smell. The reason a dog would return to it’s vomit is because beyond seeing the vomit for what it is and feeling it as vomit, chiefly, dogs smell their vomit as the food it once was. Their smell perception overrides other senses and informs their choice decision above all else.

To one more sensible or less susceptible to such rationale of judgment, it is a flawed/foolish choice and highly degrading. It is little different with men – the predominating sense in our instance being sight. To walk by faith, men (male & female) must not walk by sight. Infact, walking by sight or judging by appearances is folly and contrary to faith requirement.

Many spend a lot of time watching and observing before acting - trying to gain a perspective before acting and the fallacy of this is hidden and it appears wise, safe and offers a seeming leverage to act such. The end thereof can only be folly – the start being such also.

The more men (male & female) walk by sight, the more fearful they become and less capable to act in faith. Fear is real and some posses this more than others mainly because some generally walk by sight.

The walk of faith is the Christian requirement – it requires action regardless of what one sees even if contrary. Faith makes a way – there are no impossibilities with it. Walking by sight doesn’t. Faith is inseparable from Love and whoever has not faith, neither possesses Love. All who walk by sight, would always repeat the same mistakes just like the dog that returns to it's vomit.

2 Corinthians 5:7 - For we walk by faith, not by sight.

Matthew 17:20 - And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Galatians 5:6 - For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

1 Timothy 1:5 - Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned.

2 Timothy 1:5 -7 - When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also. Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Revelations 21:8a - But the fearful, and unbelieving.

Luke 8: 50 But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.

Attaining Greatness

Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him. And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great: For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him. Genesis 26:12 - 14

Started off as an act of obedience. Isaac simply obeyed God and in doing so demonstrated faith – it would have been very simply to go with what he saw and choose not to sow in the land. But Isaac’s faith in God (not himself) made a way where it seemed impossible for him and many others around Him.

God blessed Isaac consequently and this could well have been the end of the story. Isaac however moved forward and became very great. It was a defining action and many have stumbled at this juncture when confronted with success. Too often men are celebrating success when we should be building on it and being progressive. It takes a humble heart not to get carry away with success and God would always give grace to all who are humble.

In the area where men humble themselves, so shall God give grace. If in financial matters then His grace is applied and continually until humility ceases or the individual moves from humility in this area. Isaac was humble in financial matters and received grace that turned a blessing into a progression and helped him attain greatness. Nabal and Job were equally humble in financial matters, Nabal was particularly shrewd/ strategic though arrogant (he understood the need to have others as well as himself shear his sheep and perform the requisite required while he enjoyed his wealth/ was selfish and irrational with it).

Job was humble in both spiritual and financial matters and received blessings and much grace. Infact, he was so outstanding before God that he (Job) remains the only individual God personally attests to as being perfect, upright and possessing the fear of God. Yet Job is not recorded in the scriptures as a public minister or prophet – simply a benevolent businessman!! What a testimony!!!

Regardless of the spiritual standing of the individual with God, He would always give His grace to the humble and it depends on what areas this humility is evident in the lives of humans.
Moses was the humblest man on earth during His time but was not the richest – He was humble in spiritual matters and received grace and revelation that surpassed anyone else during his time on earth. He wasn’t recorded as being rich though nor having servants of his own – the application of the grace of God in His life wasn’t evident in finances.

Whoever is faithful with little would also be faithful with much, however is humble enough to appreciate the little God has given and not get carried away with it would definitely receive more from Him.

It remains the key to attaining greatness – humility.

Numbers 12: 3 - Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.

1 Samuel 25:2 - And there was a man in Maon, whose possessions were in Carmel; and the man was very great, and he had three thousand sheep, and a thousand goats: and he was shearing his sheep in Carmel.

Job 1:1-3 - There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil. And there were born unto him seven sons and three daughters. His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.

Matthew 25 :23b - thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things.
